If The Tabloids Ran The Country...

The Jeremy Vine Show on Radio 2 is currently discussing this. So what would be Britain's policy regarding the following issues, if The Sun/The Daily Mail/The Express/etc were in charge of the country;

European Union: Britain would pull out, immediately.
Death Penalty: Restored; and, all murderers executed!
Immigration Policy: Install 4 inch thick metal doors at all sea and air ports, which slam shut whenever a foreigner comes within half a mile of them!
"War on Terror": Round up all non-white people and dump them in Guantanamo Bay!
NHS:Scrap it immediately. If the poor want healthcare, they're going to have to work hard to pay for it!
Maggie Thatcher's portrait would hang in every public place, and everyone (including the miners and trade unionists!) will have to bow down to her!

Oh. Dear. Sounds like Hell! Hope it doesn't go that far...

See, my problem is I'm actually fully in support of what's kicked this debate off...

I really don't want our Daily Wail reading listeners taking charge though...

  They've just read an email on the radio from a woman who says Richard Littlejohn "reads her mind". (In the sense that she agrees with him!). Oh. Dear. I didn't think any ordinary civilian could be **that** right wing!

    We have a woman who thinks one of our presenters is inhabited by the spirit of her dead husband and makes the pictures jup off the walls etc when he comes on...

      Not sure about that part myself - not sure how it will aid child protection. Think it might lead to Monkey Dust style scenes: "Kill the paedophiles! Burn the paedophiles!" But I do agree that paedophiles shouldn't be put in bail hostels which are near a school. That's common sense, like not putting people who have committed crimes related to alcoholism in hostels above a pub.
      
      Anyway, don't worry too much if you have to agree with the tabloids once in a while. I'm sure the law of averages states that everyone who regularly writes has to spew something sensible occasionally!

Death Penalty: Restored; and, all murderers...rapists, burglars, asylum seekers, "dole bludgers", hoodies and people selling the Big Issue would be executed.

The jails would be empty but the crematoriums would be full.
