Flying Away From Tabloid Country!

This time tomorrow, I'll be leaving my house and catching a train to Heathrow Airport, then board a flight to Ireland. Just thought I'd let you lot know, so you don't miss me!

Heard on the radio, this morning, than some of the newspapers were criticising Jeremy Vine for a spoof news broadcast speculating on the news if the tabloids ran the country. http://random-veryrandom.blog.co.uk/2006/06/20/if_the_tabloids_ran_the_country~896574

Apparently, some people thought it was real. What!?! Are people getting stupider? Do they really believe that the editor of The Sun is Home Secretary, and The Daily Hate Mail, the Prime Minister? Some of the smaller details were just so fanciful, that most people with a brain would realise that it wasn't real!

But, then the tabloid editors and "journalists" don't have much in the grey matter department!

    When I was reading the news I reckoned if I slipped in the fact I'd been named head of the universe I'd have had half the listeners bowing to me!

Hey have a great holiday Ros. The tabloids probably didn't like being ridiculed for their moronic views but how can nayone take a paper seriously that has an 18 year old girl flashing her boobs in between its pages of "serious political" news?

I have trawled through your past blogs and nowhere, but nowhere do I see the holiday request blog asking permission to leave your blog, do you think you work for the tabliods and can do what you want or something

All this people thinking it's real reminds me of the War of the Worlds broadcast causing chaos in the 1930s or whenever it was. You'd have thought people had learned that not everything on the radio is real by now!

I disagree with your last sentence (altho I know you were half-joking). Tabloid journalists are appealing to a certain market, hence their style of writing. I am sure that most successful tabloid journalists are not as dim as their articles.
