Shocking news from The Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show - they've decided to ban The Beatles records!
What?! How can you ban any musician's records (or, even some pop stars records)? Wouldn't that be somewhere along the road to fascism?
"First they came for The Beatles, and I did not speak up because I was not a Beatle."
(Apologies to Martin Niemoller, for using his poem in that way)
Okay, there are plenty of pop groups/artists that I can't stand - Timbaland, Whiny Woman, Girls Aloud to name a few - but I don't call into Radio 1 asking for their records to be banned. No, I switch to another, crap-free radio station. And I certainly don't tell other people that they shouldn't like that type of music, as long as they don't mind my laughing at said artist. ![]()
Anyway, if I don't want to listen to/watch something, I turn whatever the media listening device may be over to something I will like. Or tolerate it, if I'm in a public place. I certainly wouldn't ask whoever the station might be to ban the song. Honestly, I thought that was the realm of fascists and religious fundamentalists!

They're just doing it to get publicity... Isn't the first time a station has tried this, all of a sudden they're getting free advertising across the outlets, one small bad bit then a huge good shot when they "relent" and go back to playing them again.
It's all a 'clever' stunt.
