It seems a childish argument has broken out between Spike Lee and Clint Eastwood. Lee is implying that Eastwood is racist and ignoring history, because there were no black characters in his films "Letters from Iwo Jima", and "Flags of our fathers".
Drawing on his two degrees from universities in Atlanta and New York, he added: "I'm not making this up. I know history. I'm a student of history.
Oh, that's cool. I'm a student of history too! Well, Spike, as you know history, you will understand that a lot of it consists of peoples interpretations of events. Both in the past as primary evidence, and now as secondary evidence. Especially in something as contentious as slavery, civil rights and "race". You have your view on history, and so does Eastwood.
Now, can we debate this like civilised adults, and agree that both sides can learn something?
