It's that time of year again! Making mince pies, sending cards to relatives in other countries and Lyndlj's Blog Secret Santa.

This year, I asked for number 20 and got the blog of a person I rarely visit. Isn't that what Secret Santa is about?

So off I go to look at Cryxstals1's blog profile.

Looking at her groups, I realise that she has some similar interests to myself - writing, cooking, food - so there's something for me to identify with in my subject. On to the blog, then.

Peaceful Haven is a blog like this one - many shades of pink! Another thing in common.

In content she is very similar - personal stories, news (sometimes with her Christian perspective, for example her post on Euthanasia) and occasionally, a poem!

Her latest post is a wee rant about Christmas excesses, which struck a chord with me.

Every year I'm pleased to have the opportunity to read and review a blog that I'd normally not read. It makes us feel part of a community, when the modern world seems unfriendly and demoralising. It's also good to discover blogs which are friendly, enjoyable and personal, in a sea of spammers and trolls. Thanks Lyndlj, and thanks Cryxstals. Keep up the good work, both of you! :D
