P is for Propaganda, S is for Sesame Street

It's Sesame Street's 40th birthday today (not that Google is in anyway paying attention, with the Cookie Monster logo).

Anyway, one crazy conservative blogger is complaining that Sesame Street is far left propaganda. Whaaaaat? Why? Because dustbin dweller Oscar the Grouch performed a skit two years ago that described Fox News (or Pox in his skit) as "trashy".

What? This is shocking to these people!? The Simpsons have been implying Fox is trashy for years, without the outcry or changing the name. (Although, it might be difficult to complain about their own show)

Anyway, even if people view Fox as trashy, it does not mean that they have a left wing bias. It probably means that they have a brain and eyes!

there's me thinking Sesme street was an educational kids tv show? where've I had my head buried all these years?

    i actually didn't watch this as a kid, saw children of mums friends watching it but never understood the fuss. hope to god i don't have to watch it when bump is born.

I went right off Seasame street when they started doing politics and social comment.

I just wanted to watch "Super Grover".....

  I can barely remember the social commentary - shows where the child's priority and interest lie.

Well Fox is trashy OK and there are a lot of right wing bloggers who're not so much crazy as stark raving binkers in the head, but the crazy American right wing bloggers are no worse than the crazy American left wing bloggers who scream "racism" at the most reasoned criticism of anything Obama does.

I had to quit one American site when many of the members started referring to BO as "Our beloved President." It freaked me out. It's worship,nothing less.

I guess America is just full of insane and emotionally needful people from sea to shining effing sea.

BTW I'd say happy birthday to the Big Bird (who I've mentioned many times on the blog) but it isn't her birthday til February

  Yeah, they'd be laughing if a right wing nutter referred to the last president (what's his name? Cowboy? Fake Texan?) using those words!

    As for the Jeremy Kyle show which I preferred when it was Trish Goddard - she had this arched eyebrow type attitude to it all - Kyle is too serious, the pooint it we still regignise the giests as mentalists. In America they would be normal. We know what words describe them though.
